Dispatcher & Operator
Dispatcher
The Dispatcher is in overall control of the trains running on the Sierra Western. The railroad is operated by timetable and train orders, and the dispatcher along with his operator and the tower operator at Cimarron, keep watch on train movements and issue and pass train orders as necessary. There are some 30 scheduled trains a day and a varying number of extras, called as required by the railroads traffic department.
Operator
The operator works directly for the dispatcher. He copies train orders and passes them to train crews and reports a trains progress by passing along ‘OS’ reports to the dispatcher.
